I had drawers of memories and over the years have thrown out many. When Shamini told me about the jacket, it was the solution I knew I needed but didn’t know how to fix the need. I love wearing those memories and having the jiggle of events and moments pop up.
I love this idea. Sadly only 2 months before learning of the circular memory jacket we moved homes and I got rid of probably 20 T Shirts that I loved… music shirts mostly. If I had waited I would have had even more relevant shirts to put into this work of art! I love the idea of keeping the legacy of clothes going even when they are too worn out to wear anymore.
I like the ideas behind sustainable fashion and thought this was a unique product. It began to feel wasteful to keep making more and more clothes. I decided about two years ago that I would only buy used or vintage clothes as much as possible. I am always looking for new ways to support sustainable fashion. I am into my style, but I see the need for new ways for the fashion world to work.
I absolutely love being able to reuse clothes, and see them repurposed in such a beautiful and useable way. It brings me back to my grandmothers and the way they looked at life and products as something lasting - not to be wasted and un-appreciated. It makes my feel wholesome and happy.
